Don Hastings is currently the City Manager for the City of Midlothian. He has 19 years experience as an urban planner, and he holds a masters degree in public affairs with an emphasis on urban and regional planning, along with a bachelor of arts in philosophy. Don has also earned a certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Don wanted to join the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce to help promote a healthy and prosperous business community and strong economic base, and feels that Chamber membership has benefitted him professionally and through creating a better Midlothian.
Don was asked to serve on the Chamber’s Board of Directors in May 2008, after having had the opportunity to meet many of its members. During his term, Don has witnessed a more strategic approach emerge regarding the management of the Chamber’s business. He has also seen a more focused concern for achieving both quality of life and economic prosperity. Don hopes to continue to contribute his knowledge and skills in economic development, urban planning and local government.
Don and his wife, Christine, have been married for 11 years and live in the countryside of Midlothian. They entertain a never-ending stream of family, when not visiting small Texas rural towns on occasional weekend getaways. Don is described as focused, committed and conscientious, and is proud to be a part of the Midlothian Chamber.
